Over the years, Zinc Nacional has established itself as one of the world leaders in the production of zinc compounds.
Here are some of the events that have made Zinc Nacional the great company it is today.

Zinc Nacional is founded by Mr. Eduardo Villareal Bell, a very visionary man.

First Waelz kiln.

1957
Hydrometallurgical Plant (first plant in Latin America to produce high quality metallic cadmium, it now produces zinc sulfate).

1965
Products introduced:

Granular zinc sulfate and agricultural fungicides are produced in the hydrometallurgical plant.

1971
Metallurgical plant starts to produce zinc oxide feed grade 72% Zn.

1975
Hydrometallurgical plant begins to manufacture high purity zinc sulfate.

1976
We start producing zinc oxide by the indirect process, or “French Process”.

1978
Zinc Nacional begins operations of its sulfuric acid plant.

1994
The first summer camp begins with 200 children.

1998
The “Clean Industry” certificate is granted by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Zinc 1999 Nacional.

1999
To diversify its operations and vertically integrate with its sister company, Panel Rey, Zinc Nacional opens recycled paperboard mill.

Zinc Nacional acquires SDR, a leader in the EAF Dust Recycling business in the USA.

French Process Zinc Oxide capacity expansion completed.

Zinc Nacional and Çinkom, company located in Turkey, Aliağa, joined forces to create Turkmex, a recycling plant for EAF dust. Construction of Waelz kiln No. 3 in SDR.

2017
Zinc Nacional/SDR partenerd with Waelz kiln No. 3 in Heritage Envrionmental Services to SDR build a new Waelz kiln facility in Indiana. WSP will use technology to provide steel mills with an alternative recyling operation for the recovery of zinc from their by-products.

2020
Jean Goldschmidt International and Zinc Nacional formed a JV to acquire an EAF dust recyling plant in Goslar, Germany that produces waelz zinc oxide.

Zinc Nacional was certified under ISO 14000 and GMP+
